For Christmas 2019, I made Lexi this dice tower. The wood is mahogany, which I reclaimed from some repairs to our deck. I sliced it down to the desired thickness using my table saw (Dangerous! But alas I don’t have a band saw and thickness planer – the ideal tools for the job).
The inset is CNC cut, and filled with some expoxy I colored with gold-flake powder.
Update: Lexi started at Purdue (2022 – Honors comp sci!) and I used a few of the extra/backup carvings I make to create a pencil holder for her desk (I still have a couple more. Maybe she’ll get a lamp or something else one day…)
